#JewelleryProblems. There is nothing more annoying than untangling a knot on your favourite necklace. It is even worse when this knot turns out to be one of those that are frustratingly smaller than you eyes can even see.

Perhaps you’ve even gone through this before. You’ve got plans later in the evening, and it takes you about 30 minutes to get ready. But wait, you are pushed back an entire HOUR because it took you that long to strap on a bracelet by yourself since there wasn’t anyone there to help you.

As jewellery aficionados, we too have gone though our fair share of jewellery problems. To save you from yanking your hair out in frustration the next time you face problems with your jewellery, we are sharing tips and tricks that could literally change your life.

1. Get rid of knots in your chains with baby powder.

You know those itty bitty knots we talked about earlier? Well simply place your chain on a flat surface and sprinkle baby powder over the knot. The knot will get looser and can be de-tangled within seconds. Don’t forget to run your necklace under warm water before laying it to dry.

2. Use household products to clean your silver jewellery

If your silver jewellery has lost its lustre then here is a simple way you can get its sparkle back. Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with water and dip in a soft cloth. Rub the jewellery with the cloth, rinse and let it dry. Never soak silver jewellery as this will only speed up the process of tarnishing.

3. Fasten a bracelet by yourself.

Securing a bracelet can be really frustrating when you have o do it yourself. Just as you’re about to hook it on to your wrist, the other end slides off and you have to start all over again. You know what we’re talking about. Simply use a paper clip to thread the catch and with your other hand, clasp it together.

4. Prevent your chains from knots and tangles.

Untangling chain knots can be an absolute nightmare. Here’s a simple trick to keep your necklaces from knotting. Simply thread your necklace through a straw and close the clasp.

5. Add chalk to your jewellery box to protect your silver.

Keep your silver jewellery from tarnishing by adding chalk to your jewellery box; it will absorb all the moisture in the atmosphere. For best results, be sure to change the chalk every other month.
