While fine jewellery has been around for 7,500 years, imitation jewellery has only recently come into use. But what is the big difference between fine and imitation jewellery, and how does fine invariably win over imitation?
]]>“Would you ever hawk over true brilliance of a natural diamond than settle for buying the beauty of imitations?”
Well, when we were posed this question, many of our first reactions were ‘Hell Yes’. But as we ventured beyond the walls of the Radiant Bay office, we didn't find as many women reiterating the same enthusiastic proclamation.Apparently while some of us enjoy long periods of gawking at diamonds, there are others who well, lets just say settle for imitated beauty. So in order to convert these naysayers to fine jewellery aficionados, if not hoarders of these precious treasures, our team set out to talk to a couple of women about fine jewellery, and why in invariably wins over imitation.
Here is the distillation of that conversation- the one that lead more than half of them to jump into our bandwagon of Ornamentalists.
Imitation stones don’t sparkle as much
Imagine this crazy moment. You’re walking by a store displaying its best diamond jewellery. You stop in your tracks as you are pulled in by the hypnotic sparkle of the diamonds on display. Now tell me how many times have you been drawn in by the sparkle of imitation diamonds, or zircons as they are called? Almost never...This is because even though the stones set into costume jewellery are cut to look like an original diamond, they have a very glassy structure which means they don’t have the true brilliance and sparkle of a natural diamond.
A penny spent is a penny earned
We have heard this numerous of times, “fine jewellery is just too expensive for my liking”. But even though this may be true, the value of gold is rising every year. So even though you may shell out a few bucks for some sparkling precious jewellery, you will not only recover that money but even make some money off of it.
Precious metals are hypo-allergenic
There are many out there who tend to be allergic to the different metals that are used to make imitation jewellery. No matter how careful you are, you end up with red, itchy skin. But, precious metals like, gold and silver that are used to make fine jewellery are known to be hypo-allergenic, meaning your skin will not react to it. At Radiant Bay we like to say that karats a day keep allergies away.
Fine jewellery lasts forever
Sure there are imitations out there that come in the best possible finish and quality, but eventually you will realise that they start losing its lustre. You may even see that a couple of stones set have even fallen off. This is because imitations are simply made from cheaper metals and stones, and due to its natural make up it will start oxidising; leaving you with a useless piece that you will eventually be thrown away. But with fine jewellery, if taken care of properly, it can last long enough to become the next family heirloom.
And they make pretty good story tellers too
Because fine jewellery has the ability to last long enough to withstand the test of time, it passes through many hands and within their grains they carry many tales of past owners. Anyone hear of the Hope Diamond, one of the most notorious piece of jewellery that’s out there?
At Radiant Bay we like to believe that jewellery should cater to every woman’s evolving style, allowing you to mix and matching jewellery to suit your every mood. To help you in your endeavour of constant experimentation with your look and style, we have developed a catalogue of statement making pieces at affordable prices. From simple studs to bold statement rings, you will find it only at Radiant Bay.
]]>At Radiant Bay we are passionate about natural diamonds, their history, beauty and uniqueness.
Diamonds are Nature's creation, many having been formed more than 3 million years ago. They have undertaken an extraordinary journey to reach us, starting deep in the earth's core under immense heat and pressure. Over billions of years some diamond bearing rocks were forced nearer the earth's surface and, on approaching the surface, diamonds were born in an explosion of power and fire. Some of these natural wonders have been found today and we use only these natural diamonds in our jewellery.
Each diamond carries with it a unique and exciting history, which inspires such passion and joy in ownership of the most rare of gems.
Diamonds are unique, mysterious, and beautiful.
They say diamonds are a girl’s best friends, and many follow the stereotype that it is always women who swoon over diamonds, but if it we looked closely we’d find that men too have fallen victims to a diamond’s enthralling brilliance.
So what is it that has made diamonds so fascinating? Have you ever thought about what exactly makes them shine bright? Well, we thought of giving you access to experts who will share all they can on this precious dear friend of ours.
Diamonds have been around for approximately 6,000 years, and are known as the hardest material on Earth. Though they may look alike, each natural diamond is unique. There are key characteristics that define a diamond’s value popularly known as the 4Cs: Cut, Clarity, Colour and Carat.
Cut
You know the sparkle that reflects in your eyes when you see a diamond? This sparkle is actually a result of the way that the diamond is cut.
To put it simply, cut is all about the symmetry and dimension of the facets of a diamond. These facets are meant to behave like a hall of mirrors. They direct light into the diamond having it bounce back at us, giving out that mesmerising sparkle. So when cutters or lapidaries meticulously and mathematically cut diamonds, they are not only trying to enhance the diamond’s durability, but also aim to radiate the best sparkle.
Grades
(Excellent) Ideal
These diamonds are of the highest cut grade. They are known to display optimum fire and sparkle.
(Very Good) Fine Cut
Diamonds classified into this category have slightly less brilliance and scintillation.
(Good) Good Cut
The difference between Good and Very Good cut diamond is very slight. Good cut diamonds tend to allow some light to escape through them.
(Fair) Shallow Cut
Fair diamonds tend to appear dull and lack lustre because light is lost from the bottom of the gem.
(Poor) Deep Cut
A Deep Cut diamond displays poor sparkle as light escapes from its sides.
Clarity
We all think of diamonds as crystal clear gemstones. However, when you take a closer look at them (under 10x magnification to be precise) they have what you call blemishes or inclusions, like scratches, fissures or air bubbles within them. The size, number, position and nature of these inclusions are what determine the clarity of a diamond i.e. diamonds are graded on how clear they are on the inside.
Grades
Flawless (FL)
Flawless diamonds are free of inclusions, blemishes or any other natural imperfections. Coming across a flawless diamond is extremely rare, which is why they are very highly priced.
Internally Flawless (IF)
Internally Flawless diamonds too are free from inclusions; however they may have minor blemishes on their surface. These diamonds too are very rare and expensive.
Very Very Slightly Included (VVS)
These diamonds have minute inclusions that can only be visible under 10x magnification. They are just as rare as IF diamonds, but they are an excellent choice as they are not as heavy on the pocket as IF diamonds.
*Many graders further classify this into VVS1 and VVS2 ( VVS1 displaying slightly high clarity and more expensive than VVS2)
Very Slightly Included (VS)
VS diamonds have tiny inclusions that can only be detected under 10x magnification. Diamonds of this clarity grade have recently been gaining popularity not only because they are less expensive, but also because these diamonds are considered to be eye clean, i.e. the inclusions are not visible to the naked eye.
*Many graders further classify this into VS1 and VS2 (VS1 displaying slightly high clarity and more expensive than VS2)
Slightly Included (SI)
Diamonds will have inclusions that are visible to an unaided eye, and may also be easily detectable under 10X magnification. Depending on the placement and colour of the inclusions, these stones may appear to be almost eye clean and therefore offer exceptional value for those who wish to maximise their budget.
*Many graders further classify this into SI1 and SI2 (SI1 displaying slightly high clarity and more expensive than S12)
Included 1 (I1)
Diamonds have obvious inclusions that are visible to the naked eye.
Included 2 (I2)
Inclusions are obvious under 10 x magnification, and even to the naked eye.
Included 3 (I3)
Imperfections are large and obvious to an unaided eye. They may be within or at the surface level of the diamond.
Colour
Diamonds aren’t always white or colourless. The diamond’s value is influenced by the hue and intensity of its colour. Sometimes there are impurities that mix with a diamond’s structure, causing its colour to be altered. So when a diamond is graded on colour, it means that it is classified based on how colourless or ‘white’ the stone is- less the colour, the more rare and valuable it is likely to be.
Grades
Colourless D-F
This is that one time when getting a D, E, or an F is good. These diamonds are colourless i.e. they have no traces of colour or yellowness in them. Only trained professionals will be able to spot the difference between these D, E, and F graded diamonds. Diamonds in this colour grade range are rare, and very expensive.
Near Colourless G -J
These have subtle traces of colour, making it a popular colour grade range as they are less expensive than the colourless range.
Faint Yellow K - M
These diamonds have a slight tint of yellow that is detectable by the unaided eye, and hence have a lower value that the previous two grades. These slightly colour diamonds may be appealing to some, considering personal taste.
Noticeably Yellow N – R
Diamonds in this range are visibly yellow or brown without magnification.
Yellow S – Z
All diamonds in this colour grade range are noticeably yellow or brown, even though they are considered as ‘white diamonds’. Oddly enough Z grade diamonds are rare to come across.
Carat
The size of a diamond is defined by its carat weight (cts). Now some people dream of that 10 carat diamond on their finger, but it is possible for diamonds of two different sizes to have the same carat weight. There are times when diamonds are cut to maximise the carat weight at the expense of its shine or sparkle, so big diamonds don’t always promise a brighter sparkle.
So now that you know all the 4Cs, are you ready to invest in that piece of sparkle that you have had your eye on?

]]>While October is dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer, the month shouldn't be the end of our fight against the disease. We are sharing an info-graphic about breast cancer and the different ways you can protect yourself. Read on to find out how you can protect yourself and others around you.
]]>
Have you checked your breasts yet?
What? Have I made you feel uncomfortable? Well, I was going for that. Come October and everybody is doing their part to spread breast cancer awareness. We’re wearing our pink ribbons and raising funds, but how much do we really do it for ourselves? Do we really spend a good amount of time talking about the health of our breasts? Do we remind friends and family to get screened? Do we even do it ourselves?
I’m presuming that there’s a string of ‘No’s have followed my questions. In a country where something as natural as menstruating continues to be stigmatized, breast cancer too is one of the most hushed topics in the community. In fact, breast cancer is such a hush-hush topic that about 60% of cases are detected in the advanced stages.
Understandably we feel uncomfortable and little queasy when we talk about breast in a nonsexual way. We all assume that the topic about breasts only come up in sexy talk. But apart from the fear of being judged, we also have that human tendency to believe that breast cancer can never have to us.
Breast cancer is a serious disease. It is the second leading cause of death in women today. While I know that I have the women locked in, some men are feeling may feel disconnected from the issue and have probably glazed over. But men aren’t entirely immune to the disease. It may be rare, but 1% of breast cancer cases occur in men. Have I got your attention now?
It’s safe to say that we all want to do our part for the cause, but breast health should be more than just wearing pink ribbons and pinkwashing everything around you. The world is losing way too many loved ones to the disease, and it’s everybody’s problem.
October shouldn’t be the end of our fight against cancer, which is why we are sharing an infographic about breast cancer and the different ways you can protect yourself. So go ahead and wear a pink ribbon and share the infographic with everyone in your life. But most importantly, talk to one another about breasts and make a change, because only together we are #StrongInPink.

From intricate sketches to meticulously finished treasures, here's the inside story on how some of your Radiant Bay favourites are made.
]]>Let’s face it. You’ve got that one piece of jewellery that you simply HAVE to have. Its design is so hauntingly beautiful that it has become that ultimate piece de resistance. It’s invaded your mind and has now successful captured every corner of your imagination. But as you look at it (with your jaws to the floor), have you ever wondered how it was made, or the meticulous craft that goes into the intricate design that you simply cannot get out of your mind?
Well, to answer those questions we are taking you behind the scenes to show you how your Radiant Bay favourites are made. As you will see, every piece of jewellery at Radiant Bay is crafted with painstaking precision using a combination of skilled craftsmen and expert technologies in an 1000+ person manufacturing facility.
STEP 1: Ideation and Design
Before any jewellery is created, our merchandising team first brainstorms themes and ideas, and goes through dozens of sources in search for that perfect inspiration. Once that is established, our 60 person design team starts sketching out numerous designs- somewhere in this heap of designs is that glorious one that you love so much.
STEP 2: Creating a prototype
Now jewellery has evolved from the traditional hammer and chisel that were developed by Neanderthal man over 75,000 years ago. Today, much of our jewellery is made using modern methods and expert technology. To clue you in on the technology that is used, all prototypes of your jewellery are digitally created and then turned into samples using CAD and our hi-tech 3D printer respectively.
A mould of this prototype is then made after it is centrally placed into a rectangular mould, and a resin-like mixture is poured over it. After it has cooled and hardened, the prototype is cut out only to leave an intricate impression structure.
STEP 3: Wax Setting
(From Left to Right) Prepping rubber sheets, Wax moulds set aside to cool
Now this imprint is used to make the metal replica of your design. To do that, we first shoot hot wax into the mould at high pressure. After the wax cools down it is peeled out of the mould, finished, checked for excess wax, and fused onto a ‘wax tree’.
Our skilled craftsmen then individually set the diamonds (that are ethically sourced and conflict-free) into the wax moulds that were soldered onto the tree, now causing it to glitter and gleam.
Today, jewellery can be made using various techniques, so at Radiant Bay we’ve adopted what you call the ‘lost wax’ method. It begins after all the required diamonds have been securely set into its mould, and the wax tree is placed into a flask. A special plaster mixture is then poured into this flask, and after it solidifies it is placed in a furnace to liquefy the wax.
STEP 4: Casting
After 12 hours of baking in the furnace, the plaster hardens and the hot wax is poured out, leaving only the hollow mould in the flask.
While the flask is prepped, a casting machine is filled with raw metal pellets, like the ones in the image.
Once the pellets have melted, the hollow plaster mould is filled with hot molten metal and set aside to harden.
On cooling, the plaster mould is destroyed to retrieve the metal cast, which now looks a lot like a tree with glistening ‘sprouts’.
STEP 5: Cutting, Filing and Polishing
These ‘sprouts’ are then checked and cut from the tree, and later sent for filing. Our skilled workmen work on the casts, buffing and levelling them, taking away all the excess dust and flakes that may have been on its surface. They are again passed through Quality Checkers, who inspect your jewellery for unevenness.
Without diamonds, your jewellery would just be plain dull and boring. After they are filed and buffed, master diamond setters fix the remaining decorative diamonds and gemstones into their prongs. Diamonds that may have come loose during casting are also reset and fitted into place. Jewellery is again checked to ensure that your diamonds are set correctly and securely within the prongs.
Once all the gemstones and diamonds have been set, the cast is then worked on and buffed to make it shiny and glossy. Quality checkers inspected the jewellery for uneven polishing to ensure that they are not over or under polished.
To bring out that inerasable gloss and sparkle, your jewellery is placed in a rhodium bath for a few minutes. This plating also helps to protect your jewellery from daily wear. Quality checks are carried out again to ensure that the jewellery has been evenly plated.
Have you noticed that your jewellery is passed through stringent quality checks after every process? We do this is to ensure that we deliver supreme quality diamond jewellery that captures your wildest imagination.
STEP 6: Certification
After your jewellery has passed all our rigorous checks and inspections, they are sent to BIS for hallmarking gold.
A Brand certificate is provided with every jewellery.
BIS is a national standards organisation in India, who certifies the authenticity of the metal, and ensures that your jewellery conforms to its standards.
STEP 7: Packaging
Your jewellery is then packaged in a velvet pouch, and along with the certification and is placed into our signature wooden box. It is then securely wrapped and placed in our tamper proof envelope.
As you can see, your precious purchase is even more precious to us! We do hope you will share your radiant moments with us: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook.
]]>1. Inspect your diamonds with a jeweller’s loupe.
Firstly, a loupe is a magnifying glass that is used by jewellers to view gemstones and their setting under 10x magnification. Because real diamonds are created by the forces of mother-nature they will have sharp edges and carry tiny inclusions within their structure. When you compare a real diamond to a fake stone, the fake will be absolutely perfect i.e. no inclusions and rounded edges.
Now, we would like to caution you that there are diamonds that are Lab-grown, and they too have perfect internal structures. So before you go throwing away perfect gems, you might want an expert to have a closer look at it.
2. Check the quality of the setting and look for metal stamps
When you’re inspecting the setting, you will notice tiny etchings that will state what metal is used, like 9K, 14K,and 18K for gold, and 0.925 for silver. If the piece is plated, then it’s most likely that the stone isn’t a diamond. Because why would anyone mount a brilliant stone in cheap metal? You should also check the quality of the setting. If the setting is poor, that probably means that the diamond isn’t going to be real either.
3. Fakes fog up
Just like a foggy bathroom mirror, a fake diamond will fog up when you breathe hot air over it. But a real diamond will not have the same reaction. In fact, it won’t even fog up slightly; instead it will disperse the heat instantly.
4. Try the rainbow test
Many of us tend to think that diamonds sparkle like rainbows, but they don’t. Diamonds actually have a sparkle that is unique to them. On the inside, you will see a gray and white sparkle called brilliance while on the outside it will reflect rainbows on other surfaces (this dispersion of light is known as fire). But if the stone throws rainbows on it’s inside, then it’s a sure sign that the diamond is a fake.
5. Test the stone’s refractivity
Fakes can imitate a diamond's brilliance, but when it comes to refraction it is much lower than a natural diamond. Diamonds sparkle because of the way they bend light. Like if you rest an unmounted diamond on a sheet of paper, light will scatter inside it preventing a black reflection. But a fake will simply behave like a piece of glass; you’ll be able to see right through it , and maybe even read through it, depending on its size. If your stone is mounted, you can test its refractivity by simply looking through it; if you can see all the way down till the mount, then the stone probably isn’t a diamond.
At Radiant Bay, to assure you of the highest quality, all your precious treasures are certified for diamond quality and hallmarked for gold purity.

]]>Navaratri is a festival dedicated to worship the Hindu deity Maa Durga (Maa Amba). Nava meaning Nine and Ratri meaning Nights. Navaratri represents a celebration of the Maa Maa Amba. Navaratri or Navadurga Durga Parva happens to be the most auspicious and unique period of devotional sadhanas and worship of Maa Amba of during these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Devi are worshipped. The tenth day is commonly referred to as Vijayadashami or Dussehra. Navaratri is an important major festival and is celebrated all over India and Nepal. Diwali the festival of lights is celebrated twenty days after Dussehra. Navratri festival is celebrated twice in a year with great devotion and fervor in all over India. First time it is celebrated as Chaitra Navratri or Vasant Navratri in March-April and second time as Sharad Navratri in the months of September-October. They are Vasanta Navaratri, Ashadha Navaratri, the Sharad Navaratri, the Paush/Magha Navaratri and the Magha Navaratri. Of these, the Sharad Navaratri of the month of Puratashi and the Vasanta Navaratri of the Vasanta kala are the most important. The other two are observed by shaktas only.
In eastern India, the festival is celebrated as Durga Puja. Huge statues of the Maa are made and immersed in the holy Ganges River. The festival is an extremely social and theatrical event, with drama, dance, and cultural performances held throughout the country. People worship the Maa where they keep fast during the day and then they play garba at night.

It is celebrated widely in every part of India with great enthusiasm with a different name of Maa, like in Gujarat devotees worship as Maa Jagdamba while in West Bengal it is named as Maa Durga. In Kolkata people build huge Pandals at various places for Maa Durga and set up great idols of Maa Durga for worship. In Gujarat, Dandiya and Garba are the two popular dance forms which are performed by the people during Navratri festival.

Garba is a Gujarati folk dance celebrated in Navratri, a celebration lasting nine nights. Garba songs typically revolve around the subjects of Lord Krishna or the nine Maaes. Sanedo is an example of a very popular song. Garba styles vary from place to place in Gujarati
Garba is a form of dance which was originated in the state of Gujarat in India. The name is derived from the Sanskrit term Garbha (womb) and Deep (a small earthenware lamp). Many traditional garbas are performed around a centrally lit lamp or a picture or a statue of Maa Amba. The circular and spiral figures of Garba have similarities to other spiritual dances, such as those of Sufi culture. Traditionally, it is performed during the nine-day Hindu festival Navratri.
Modern garba is also heavily influenced by Dandiya Raas,a dance traditionally performed by men. The merger of these two dances has formed the high-energy dance that is seen today.
Garba and Dandiya Raas are also popular in the United States where more than 20 universities have Raas/Garba competitions on a huge scale every year with professional choreography. Garba is also very popular in the United Kingdom where there are a number of Gujarati communities who hold their own garba nights and widely popular among the Gujarati community even in Canada, where the largest navratri festival in the western world is held annually in Toronto. They say "Ae Hallo" for fun, which means "Come on! Let’s start!".
Both men and women usually wear colorful costumes while performing garba and dandiya. The girls and the women wear Chaniya choli, a three-piece dress with a choli, which is an embroidered and colorful blouse, teamed with chaniya, which is the flared, skirt-like bottom, and dupatta, which is usually worn in the traditional Gujarati manner. Chaniya Cholis are decorated with beads, shells, mirrors, stars, and embroidery work, mati, etc. Traditionally, women adorn themselves with jhumkas, necklaces, bindi, bajubandh, chudas and kangans, kamarbandh, payal, and mojiris. Boys and men wear kafni pyjamas with a Ghagra - a short round kurta - above the knees and pagadi on the head with bandhini dupatta, kada, and mojiris. There is a huge interest in Garba among the youth of India.
The traditional costume of the Garba dancer is red, pink, yellow, orange, and brightly colored Chanya choli or ghagra choli; odhini with bandhani (tie-die), abhla (big mirrors) or with thick Gujarati borders. They also wear heavy jewelry, such as 2-3 necklaces, sparkling bangles, waist belts and long oxidized earrings.
]]>Traditionally, a salwar kameez or an anarkali would be your first choice of clothing to these celebratory parties, but with trends ethnic wear has evolved into something that is a lot more than that.
So, instead of seeking out the usual this season, why not try some of the biggest trends spotted at Lakme Fashion Week and add a little zing to your growing eclectic style.
Shirt+Sari Combination
An upgrade from the regular choli-saree combination, why not pair your saree with a shirt or a crop top? All you have to do is pick a blouse that complements the saree and wear your handlooms with pride. If you wear want to go the extra mile, you can even pair them up with a pair of jeans or leggings and experiment with different drapes, have pleats on the side or maybe even have no pleats at all.
Cape Tops
In addition to making you feel like super woman, cape tops can add an element of ease and comfort into your well-thought-out ensemble. Though many may claim cape tops to be unflattering, it is all about the way you style it. Pick a design that enhances the favourite part of your body; if you've got great broad shoulders, try on a design that is off-shouldered, or if you want to draw attention to those fine toned abs, then try something that has a shorter hemline.
Soft Coats
They can keep your whole look together by sheltering it from the wind or even add oomph and colour to your stunning boardroom trouser-suit. Instead of going for the regular work blazer, try combing a colourful wrap coat with a classy pair of trousers, and transition effortlessly for date night by simple swapping your blouse for a simple bustier top.
Billowing Trousers
You may want to tread easy on this trend because it is one of those that can go wrong really quickly. Be it culottes, wide legged trousers or a pair of dhoti pants, always make sure that you maintain balance by playing up with volume with a formfitting top- you don’t want to look like you’re floating in a sea of cloth. With a pair of flowy trousers, you can also infuse the look with a touch of ethnic appeal by pairing it with a stunning embroidered choli or a crop top.
For those who love the unconventional, word on the street is that the reinvented sweatshirt dress is making its mark this season. Pick a dress that is embellished and colourful, pair it with a sheer netted shirt and a pair of sneakers and watch those eyes linger.

]]>For a ceremony as traditional as mehendi, a romantic sari is a must-have for any wedding. Go for saris that are in rich, rich hues of pink and gold with paisley details and embellishments to add to the look. You can even try experimenting with different draping styles- pleat your sari to the side or wear it over a pair of narrow legged pants. When it comes to accessories, keep the jewellery to the minimum- a pair of delicate drop earrings and a pendant will suffice, as you don’t want your rings and bangles stained with henna by the end of the day.
An ideal look for your best friend’s sangeet, you can never go wrong with the classic- black and white; you can even compliment these colours by completing the look with gold jewellery. Opt for playful prints with a mix of flowing layers, you can keep it simple with accessories just to that it doesn’t come in the way of all the dancing that you will be doing.
There is always alot of last minute running around for different things on ‘the day’ so you may want to keep your look as simple and light as possible. Choose light colours with a touch of embroidery, with jewellery that won’t get in the way. Don’t forget to pack in a couple of tissues for those tear jerking moments.
Go for the classic and play with different jewel tones, especially if it is a winter wedding reception. You can try mixing colours and embroidery that complement each other or you can go for a monochromatic combination. Pile on jewellery that best matches the ensemble- you can never go wrong with layering jewellery.

High on drama that defined the 80s, think of pieces that are bigger, louder and in deconstructed shapes.
Though the trend continues from Spring, chokers for Fall are a more understated variety of the statement necklace.
The fringe trend has extended from garments to the jewellery that graced the Fall runway. Lending the element of movement, get jewellery that will dance to the rhythm of your body.
Richly decorative, baroque jewellery can definitely be an eye full. Pick designs that are heavily studded with gems and stones with a lot of filigree detailing.
It’s the return of the slim chain. As we progress from spring’s big and oversize beads of the 70s, this Fall it’s all about long, slender chains. An amalgamation of minimalism and boho chic you can try this trend for work and play.
Brooches, hair pieces, earrings, necklaces and everything else in between, have flowers on them. A romantic trend for the season, this trend is for every type of trend-wary fashion girl.
The earring story has slowly become a singles party. Standing strong as a top trend for the season, it is best suited if you try this with a really bold statement earring.

]]>From old Hollywood looks to the biggest fashion rule breakers, the Ornamentalist sounds off on who ruled the red carpet at the 2015 Emmy Awards.
]]>If you’re really quiet, you’ll hear a lot of jaws dropping to the floor as some of the most stunning actresses walk their way down the Emmy red carpet. Though their dresses are usually the center of our attention, let’s not forget about the equally flawless pieces of jewellery that pull their entire look together. Though some of these may be small, they still pack a lot of punch.
Scroll on to see who made it on to our Top 10 lists.
Making jaws drop as she walked down the carpet, the Emmy-winning actress stunned everybody in a beautiful one-shoulder Safiyaa dress, which she pair with impressive diamond pieces by Chopard. While she did grab our attention with a pair of 28.78 carat earrings, the bracelet impressed us just as much, since it was mega-watt sparkler of 50 carats!
Showing off her perfectly toned body, the Empire star made her way down the red carpet in a custom Alexander Wang. Perfecting the understated look, the star played off the chain details of the dress by pairing it with a sparkling diamond and platinum Neil Lane bracelet.
Making her appearance at the awards, the host of the Top Chef wore a lime-green dress that complemented her dusky skin. Drawing attention to her décolletage, she paired her gorgeous Romona Keveza creation with a pair of vintage Fred Leighton dangler earrings.
Bending the red carpet rules, the star stunned everyone when she arrived at the carpet in a lush turquoise Ulyana Sergeenko 70s-styled jumpsuit. Making sure she captured all the attention with her rule-breaking ensemble, she kept the jewellery to a bare minimum; wearing a couple of cocktail rings and an 18k gold and platinum Tiffany flame brooch that drew attention to her waist.
Not going overboard with a gown full of sequins, the gorgeous star kept it simple with a streamline aquamarine Calvin Klein cut-out dress that accentuated her athletic frame. A perfect example of mixing glamour with quirk, the actress paired her dress with a classic deco link bracelet with a statement flower ring, both from jeweller Fred Leighton.
Making her first red carpet appearance since her breast-reduction surgery, the young starlet arrived looking confident as ever in a body hugging Romona Keveza siren red dress. Making sure all eyes were on her, she paired the structured gown with a simple stack of slim bracelets and dainty rings.
The first-time nominee played her cards right, arriving in an angelic pink Lorena Sarbu gown. Since the gown had a lot of embroidery details, the actress kept jewellery to a minimum, drawing attention to her face with a slicked back pony-tail and a pair of stunning diamond earrings.
Though the star continues to match our red carpet expectations, the gorgeous star showed up looking nothing less than a gilded goddess in an Italian gold lame dress studded with 64,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals paired with matching jewellery by Loraine Schwartz.
‘Dripping in diamonds’... the Scream Queens actress couldn’t have put it better when she spoke of her jewels at the carpet. Going for Old Hollywood glamour, the actress wore a beautiful deep-V custom Jenny Packham dress. Making sure that she wasn't over doing the sparkle, she accentuated her neckline with a 'Veronica Lake' hair and a gorgeous necklace. Only adding to the glamorous ensemble, she wore a sparkling stack of diamond bangles with diamond bands and an Art Deco statement ring.
Dipping her feet in the off-shoulder trend, the starlet arrived looking drop-dead-gorgeous in a beautiful oxblood Zac Posen dress. With details that accentuate her petite frame, the dress was complemented with matching Lorraine Schwartz earrings and bangle with accents of chevron rings from Ofira.

]]>Sapphire is one of the most sought after gemstone on earth. Flaunting magnificent beauty, rich colour variations and bewitching lores, it is no revelation that there are several examples of legendary sapphires. Read on to learn about the stunning stones that made our top 4 list.
]]>Sapphires happen to be one of the most sought after gemstone on Earth- and why shouldn’t it be? Flaunting magnificent beauty, vibrant colour and incredible strength, the gemstone has some of the most intriguing stories attached to it.
Although the sapphire comes in various colours, its blue hue is the most popular, because of which it has become a symbol of heaven, nobility, truth and fidelity. For centuries, it was common belief that sapphire has the powers to bring wealth, as well as protection from envy. The sapphire’s powers were believed to even go as far as testing a woman’s fidelity; it is said that the sapphire would simply darken if they were being unfaithful.
Given the history of legends and lust for the bewitching gemstone, it is no revelation that there are several examples of legendary sapphires.
Namesake of the popular gin Bombay Sapphire, the gem is a 182 carat cabochon star sapphire from Sri Lanka and is considered to be one of the world’s largest. Acquired by Trabert & Hoeffer Inc, the gem was first set into a platinum ring, later purchased by famous silent film star, Douglas Fairbanks as a present for actress, Mary Pickford.
After her death, the gem was donated to the Smithsonian, where it lies to this day.
The finest and second largest sapphire in the world, the Logan Sapphire is a gorgeous 422.99 carat gem from the mines of Sri Lanka. Namesake of a Mrs. John Logan, the gemstone was later donated to the Smithsonian and is said to be the heaviest mounted gem in the collection.
A stunning example of Sri Lankan craftsmanship, the gem was purchased by King Ferdinand of Romania for Queen Marie to match the equally extraordinary tiara worn for her coronation.
As the world’s most famous and historic sapphire, the gem was later acquire by jeweller Harry Winston, subsequently incorporating the 478. 68 carat sapphire into the platinum pendant seen in the picture.
Since the sapphire was commonly known as a blue gemstone, when the 1,156 carat black sapphire was discovered it ended up being used as a humble door stop. And the Spencer family, the original owners of the stone, remained completely oblivious of its true value for more than a DECADE. In addition, the sapphire’s brilliant six-spoke star that it presently displays wasn’t even revealed until it was sold off and studied by jeweller, Harry Kazanjian.
Though it was later sold to an anonymous buyer, the Kazanjian family still attributes their success to the gorgeous sapphire, as ever since they purchased the gem the family business saw a surge in growth which eventually led them to become the world’s leading gem dealers.

]]>1. I’m worth it
Right or wrong, some people measure self-worth by the size and quality of the diamond jewellery they receive. “If he spends three month’s salary on an engagement ring, then I know I’m really important to him.” This can also be applied to the quality and value of diamond jewellery that a person may buy for himself. Taking into consideration how much a person can afford, often their purchase will reflect the degree to which they believe they deserve the jewellery.
2. Let’s celebrate
When there is a family celebration, or other special events that arise, the elemental nature of the diamond jewellery given reflects both the joy and importance of the celebration. This could be the birth of a child, marked by the mother receiving diamond jewellery from the father, or a couple celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary, marking 60 years of marriage!
3. I did it!
Either in recognition of one’s own accomplishment or of someone else’s, diamond jewellery is a natural choice after overcoming challenges and achieving a significant goal. “Yes! I finally got promoted to VP. Now I can buy myself that fancy college ring that I’ve been wanting all these years.”
4. I want something truly special
The rarity of a diamond itself, and its combination of the 4Cs, make all diamonds one-of-a-kind. Presenting a diamond to a loved one can be an expression of this. “Your inner beauty is as unique as this diamond. Please accept this gift as a reflection of all of your virtues.”
5. Reflecting Diamonds Qualities
Some may buy diamond jewellery for himself or others as an expression of an individual’s dazzling, distinctive, radiant personality. Other qualities that may also be reflected here are: reliability, inner strength, fire and sparkle. “The qualities I see in myself, I choose in the diamonds I wear. I am a vibrant, strong, stable person.”
6. Making the right impression
Generally speaking, when it comes to giving diamonds, this is a male motivation, though occasionally women purchase diamond jewellery with this motivation as well. “These diamond bangles will show her how much I care and want to be there for her.”
7. The Promise of a diamond
It's that moment when a man realise that today is his anniversary and he doesn't have a present for his wife! Only a lavish gift will redeem him, and diamond jewellery is the answer. Demonstrating the investment in her happiness shows that she is at the top of his mind. “I don’t know what to get her and time is running out. Well, I can’t go wrong with a diamond, she’ll love it.”
8. Redemption
Saying sorry, or the need to make a point of how important a person is to you can be well expressed with diamond jewellery. The symbolism of a diamond as a stone that lasts forever and survives adversity to sparkle on, appeals to this motivation. “I am not sure where I stand in her eyes, and I want to let her know how important she is to me. This heart pin with the little diamond in it should express this.”
9. Purely a gift
As diamonds transcend function, giving diamond jewellery means expecting nothing in return. “I’m giving her a diamond and not a household item because I want her to know that she is appreciated by this family for so much more than just the hard work she carries out every day."
Good reasons to buy diamonds online
By buying diamond jewellery online, you can buy a piece of jewellery at the best price / quality ratio, while enjoying a wide selection of products as well as personalised service. By buying diamond jewellery online, you can buy a piece of jewellery at the best price / quality ratio, while enjoying a wide selection of products as well as personalised service.
Diamonds at a smashing price
On the Internet, diamond prices are usually 30% to 50% lower than those of physical stores. E-retailers have the ability to offer exceptional prices because they are more competitive than the jewellers who own a standard shop. Buying diamonds on the Internet does not require any travelling and easily let you compare the price / quality ratio of the jewel.
Quality assurance
To ensure product quality, it is very important to remember the 4Cs, namely: Carat, Colour, Clarity and Cut, as a seller would recommend you in a shop:
- The Carat refers to the weight of the diamond (1 carat = 0.2 grams)
- Colour corresponds to a shade of white designated by different letters. The stones in the categories D and E are whiter. From the letter I, the diamond begins to take a slight yellow coloration.
- Clarity is the degree of purity and the purest stones generally carry the indication IF or internally flawless.
- Cut refers to the cut of the diamond. Like colour, the cut quality is expressed by letters. EX means Excellent, while P is a very low quality (Poor).
Tailor made jewellery
On the Internet, the possibilities for customising a diamond jewel are many, namely: flat, slightly-curved, domed, round, half set, etc. The finish can be polished or mat, the thickness depends on personal taste.

The stunning Brie Larson doesn’t just deserve her golden statue but also a spot on our list. Looking effortless in an azure Gucci gown, she pulled her look together with glittering Niwaka jewels- a pair of dainty diamond and pearl earrings, and a pretty brooch pulling her blonde locks from her face.
Showing off her slender body in a mermaid- like Armani creation (picked out by her husband, Liev Schriber), Naomi Watts caught our ornamental hearts as soon as she stepped out onto the carpet. Pairing the glamourous gown with an equally glamourous Bulgari diamond necklace, she definetly deserves a spot on our list.

]]>All gemstones come with their own unique lores and legends that speak of stones providing spirituality and strength, but there are some that have powers of a more sinister kind. From the Hope Diamond to the Delhi Sapphire, learn more about some of the most famous cursed gemstones on earth.
]]>Over the years, gemstones have been celebrated for providing spirituality and strength – even providing protection from the perils of war. But like anything else under this sun, even gemstones have a side that’s been feared by some. These gemstones are the more sinister ones that are capable of bringing down even the strongest of men. Did we take you unawares?
From the Hope Diamond to the Delhi Sapphire, we are bringing you stories behind four of the most famous cursed gemstones on earth.
The Hope Diamond is arguably the most popular gemstone that has a storied past of bad luck and misfortune. Discovered in the mines of Golconda, the 45.52 carat blue diamond has been blamed for a long list of tragedies that include suicide, insanity and everything in between.
Well, history holds that King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette owned the diamond during their beheadings. Even the jewellers who may have handled the diamond are said to have not been spared from its rumoured malice.
From the insanity and suicide of Jacques Colot, to the ruin of jeweller Simon Frankle, who bought the diamond from the Hope family, these incidents are all linked to the Hope Diamond. Even the last person to own the diamond, an American coal heiress and socialite, had her daughter die of an overdose, lost her son in a car crash, and had her husband leave her for another woman.
This diamond was later auctioned by Harry Winston, who in time donated the Hope Diamond to the Smithsonian, the world’s largest museum and research complex.
2. The Black Orlov
The Black Orlov is a 67.50 carat black diamond, also known as the Eye of Brahma Diamond. Legend holds that the diamond’s curse began after it was stolen off an ancient statue of the Hindu God Brahma in Pondicherry.
In 1932, in search of prospective buyers, a diamond dealer brought the Black Orlov into the United States. A few months later he committed suicide by jumping from a skyscraper in New York City.
Similarly, Russian princesses Leonila and Nadia Orlov- one of the diamond’s namesake- allegedly ended their lives by jumping to their deaths, while the diamond was in their possession.
In an attempt to break the curse, the diamond was later cut into three pieces. The Black Orlov, now set into a necklace of 124 diamonds has become a part of the display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
3. Koh-I-Noor Diamond
The diamond, once known as the largest, is said to be 105.6 carats, allegedly discovered in the mines of Golconda. Throughout the history of the Koh-I-Noor, the diamond passed through many hands. Among them were the Indians, Persians, Afghans and Sikhs, who fought battles to claim ownership.
According to lore, the curse of the diamond was found in ancient Hindu text that read “he who owns this diamond will own the world, but will also know all its misfortunes. Only God or woman can wear it with impunity.”
Eventually the diamond was seized from the Sikhs by the East India Company, and became a part of the British crown jewels.
Today, the diamond rests in the Queen’s coronation crown.
4. The Delhi Purple Sapphire
Actually an amethyst, the fabled sapphire was said to have been stolen by a British soldier from the Temple of Indra, the Hindu God of war and weather. After experiencing streaks of bad luck, the stone eventually landed in the hands of a scientist, John Heron-Allen.
After dealing with a stretch of misfortunes, Heron-Allen tried to get rid of it twice by gifting it away, only to have it returned to him. In a last-ditch effort to rid himself of bad luck, Heron-Allen even claimed to have thrown the stone into the murky Regent’s Canal, but it was again returned to him after it was found by a dredger.
Wary of its powerful curse, the Delhi Sapphire was later locked away in seven boxes and surrounded by good luck charms. Today, the Delhi Sapphire is on display at the London Natural History Museum, with strict instructions that caution against touching the stone with bare hands.

In terms of fashion, sex in the city has been able to inspire an entire generation. Though the movie may not have been a complete success, every woman will remember its final scene when Mr. Big presents Carrie with a 5 carat black diamond engagement ring while delivering this infamous line- ‘Because you’re not like anyone else’.
When we first watched How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, we’ll admit to letting out an incredulous sigh as we watched Kate Hudon’s character, Andie, is graced by the stunning yellow diamond necklace for the night. Valued at $5.3 million, the creation is an 84 carat creation by famed jeweler Harry Winston and is the most expensive piece of jewellery ever created for a film. Titanic is probably the biggest movies of the 90s, and remains to be the most memorable not only for the flawless performance but also for the gorgeous blue diamond necklace. As per the story recited in the film, the diamond once belonged to Louis XVI and was cut into the shape of a heart after the French Revolution. Inspired by the Hope Diamond, the $250 million piece is actually a prop again made by Harry Winston. However after the success of the film, the jeweler was commissioned to make a real replica, resulting in $4 million necklace that featured a 170 carat sapphire surrounded by 103 diamonds. The actress who played the older Rose, wore the necklace to the 1997 Oscars and was dubbed the most expensive piece of jewellery to be worn to the prestigious awards show.
A world classic, Breakfast at Tiffany’s even though an adaptation of the Truman Capote novel, it has been able to draw quite a few eyes on the luxurious brand. The “Two Weeks” singer floored everyone at the carpet, putting her fierce body front and centre in a sheer Atelier Versace dress. A perfect blend of boudoir and bondage, the singer took her look to the next level but keeping her jewellery at the minimum and keeping the attention on her stunning dress.
As the host for the night, the star arrived making sure all eyes were on her. Arriving in a barely-there Atelier Versace, which included suspenders and a chandelier-style skirt, she definitely made a few onlookers hide for cover just in case some of her body parts made an inadvertent appearance. However, she did prove that they need not worry as she danced her way down the carpet.
Taylor Swift
Hitting the carpet in a sequined crop top and pant ensemble by Ashish, the night’s big nominee and winner definitely missed the mark. We will cut the girl some slack though, she has been killing it on her 1989 World Tour, and probably didn’t have much time to go shopping for the show.

]]>#JewelleryProblems. From the annoyingly tiny chain knots to the infuriating task of hooking on a bracelet all by ourselves, we are all too familiar with the problems we face with our jewellery. Discover must-know tips and tricks that will save you time and frustration the next time you face problems with jewellery.
]]>#JewelleryProblems. There is nothing more annoying than untangling a knot on your favourite necklace. It is even worse when this knot turns out to be one of those that are frustratingly smaller than you eyes can even see.
Perhaps you’ve even gone through this before. You’ve got plans later in the evening, and it takes you about 30 minutes to get ready. But wait, you are pushed back an entire HOUR because it took you that long to strap on a bracelet by yourself since there wasn’t anyone there to help you.
As jewellery aficionados, we too have gone though our fair share of jewellery problems. To save you from yanking your hair out in frustration the next time you face problems with your jewellery, we are sharing tips and tricks that could literally change your life.
1. Get rid of knots in your chains with baby powder.
You know those itty bitty knots we talked about earlier? Well simply place your chain on a flat surface and sprinkle baby powder over the knot. The knot will get looser and can be de-tangled within seconds. Don’t forget to run your necklace under warm water before laying it to dry.
2. Use household products to clean your silver jewellery
If your silver jewellery has lost its lustre then here is a simple way you can get its sparkle back. Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with water and dip in a soft cloth. Rub the jewellery with the cloth, rinse and let it dry. Never soak silver jewellery as this will only speed up the process of tarnishing.
3. Fasten a bracelet by yourself.
Securing a bracelet can be really frustrating when you have o do it yourself. Just as you’re about to hook it on to your wrist, the other end slides off and you have to start all over again. You know what we’re talking about. Simply use a paper clip to thread the catch and with your other hand, clasp it together.
4. Prevent your chains from knots and tangles.
Untangling chain knots can be an absolute nightmare. Here’s a simple trick to keep your necklaces from knotting. Simply thread your necklace through a straw and close the clasp.
5. Add chalk to your jewellery box to protect your silver.
Keep your silver jewellery from tarnishing by adding chalk to your jewellery box; it will absorb all the moisture in the atmosphere. For best results, be sure to change the chalk every other month.

]]>Sometimes the best way to look as chic as ever is to keep jewellery to a bare minimum. While minimalist jewellery continues to rule this summer, we are revealing some of our favorite pieces, as well as creative tricks to help you update your style statement to demure and classy.
]]>When it comes to the rules of accessorizing, Coco Chanel says it best - ‘Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.’ Sometimes the best way to look as chic as ever is to keep jewellery to a bare minimum.
Recently, there has come about a change in the sort of jewellery that people have been wearing. Jewellery has now switched from chunky and heavily studded to more dainty and delicate pieces.
Now your jewellery box may have a couple of eye-catching pieces that pack a whole lot of punch, but you can still make a statement with delicate jewellery without it being big, loud and in-your-face.
This time around you don’t have to hunt for that one glamorous necklace or a pair of shoulder grazing earrings, but a few delicate pieces that will do the trick. Luckily, these killer pieces have become easier to find, and are more affordable than ever.
If you’re thinking that dainty jewellery is boring, then you’re highly mistaken. We are revealing some of our favorite pieces, as well as creative tricks to help you update your style statement to demure and classy.
1. Layering Necklaces
Tinier pieces work best on shorter necklaces and vice versa. You can balance your necklaces by layering tinier pieces closer to the neck and gradually layering necklaces of longer lengths.
2. Pair different types of bracelets together
You can play with different silhouettes and styles to make your wrists look more interesting. Combine skinny bracelets with charms to give the stack a bit of a personality.
3. Don't be afraid to mix metals
There really is no wrong way to mix metals. Rose goes well with yellow gold, so does silver. Play with your metals and try pairing rings and bracelets together. They will definitely stack and make your look all the more fresh and understated.
4. Find your balance when stacking rings
When stacking rings you need to find the right balance -- think of it as Feng Shui for your hands. You can look classy and put-together by pairing a few simple pieces. Stack a few rings on a finger, at a more geometric one for your middle and a few midi rings to pull it all together.
5. Don't forget to take them off before you sleep or workout
Dainty pieces may feel like you aren’t wearing any jewellery but because they are delicate they will tangle and break easily. Always remember to remove your jewellery before sleeping or working out. Avoid wearing them to the pool or while showering as they will get dirty or tarnish when exposed to chlorine or other chemicals.

]]>Diamonds are considered to be one of the most valuable gemstones in the history of mankind. But what is it about diamonds that has captured our hearts? Read more to find out more about what makes diamonds your best friend.
]]>Most of us have had that moment of awe when we first laid eyes on a diamond. Over the years, diamonds have come to be one of the most popular gemstones on earth. There is a stereotype out there that it’s always women who swoon over diamonds, but if you’ve really paid attention you’ll notice that men too are victims of their inexplicable brilliance.
So what is it about the diamond that has captured everyone’s hearts, minds and maybe even their souls? In the interest of never having to justify ourselves when our eye glaze over the next time we’re in the presence of a diamond, here’s what makes diamonds everybody’s best friend.
Their impressive journey to the top
There are a lot of superlatives for diamonds that separates them from everything on earth. They are the hardest natural material, the best conductor of heat, but the most remarkable fact about diamonds is their formation. Today, every diamond we see are crystals that were almost perfectly formed 100 miles below the surface of the earth, and have survived a violent, rapid volcanic eruption to bring it to the earth’s surface and then found or mined.
Their association with love
Traditionally diamonds have always been viewed as a symbol of everlasting love. The ancient Greeks may have even been a bit of a romantic sort, because they helped romanticise the significance of diamonds by their enchanting interpretation of the rocks; comparing the fire of the stones to the flame of indistinguishable love.
Their incomparable strength
Combined with their turbulent journey to the surface of the earth, diamonds are fascinating gemstones that are commonly known for their magnificent durability. Rating 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness, diamonds have often been viewed as a symbol of strength- their name itself is derived from the Greek word adamas meaning unbreakable. Diamonds are so strong that they are cut and faceted by diamonds themselves- talk about fighting fire with fire.
Their fascinating myths and lore
Historically, there are accounts from the ancient ages when it was believed that diamonds may have had magical powers. As a result, diamonds have been used to draw out harmful toxins, ward off evil spirits and to even bring balance and clarity to its wearer. Greek philosopher Plato was even said to have believed that gemstones were a mere consequence of fermentation in the stars, where a diamond actually formed the kernel of gold bearing mass.
They are great on jewellery... especially engagement rings
Although this custom has been around since the ancient Egyptians, the first well-documented account of a diamond engagement ring was that of a romantic Austrian aristocrat who got engaged by presenting a diamond ring to his fiancé.
They can be as big as an ostrich egg
Well.. maybe not literally, but there are a large number of diamonds that have gained fame because of their size. From the 3,106 carat Cullian diamond, the biggest rough diamond ever discovered, to the 189.6 carat Black Orlov and every other in between have made their mark in history for their rare size and even rarer quality.
... and they come in various colours
Widely recognized for their colourlessness, fancy coloured diamonds have begun gaining popularity today. Fancy coloured diamonds are natural, rare and truly exotic- coming in a range of hues and intensity, depending on their quirks and the type of impurities in them.
All our favourite stars wear them
Whenever you see a celebrity wearing diamonds, they emulate total decadence. Stars from the golden years to modern times have been snapped wearing diamonds worth millions on the red carpet, but Elizabeth Taylor is someone who’s love for diamonds are more prominent. She was often seen wearing the 33 carat Krupp Diamond, and was also the proud owner of the 69 carat Taylor-Burton diamond.

]]>Picking out the right piece of jewellery can sometimes be a lot harder than usual. Accessories canhelp complete your look, but too much can sometimes take away from your outfit. Here is a jewellery cheat sheet to help you figure out what is the best piece of jewellery to pair with different necklines.
]]>Many of us have spent hours staring aimlessly at our wardrobes overflowing with outfit options, mentally pairing the right clothes and the right shoes. After finally having found what we’ve been looking for, our focus shifts to accessories!
Picking out the right piece of jewellery can sometimes be a lot harder than usual. It can be tough to decide whether to pair a bold statement piece with a strapless dress, or if a one-shoulder can be worn with a necklace. Although accessories can help complete your look, too much can sometimes take away from your outfit. Here is a jewellery cheat sheet to help you figure out what is the best piece of jewellery to pair with different necklines.
Scoop neck: these necklines are the easiest to accessorize. Pair your scoop necks with jewellery that follows the contour of the neckline. Try a long necklace if the neckline is high, and a short necklace or chocker if the neckline is low.
Radiant Bay Picks: Bohemian Beauty Diamond Pendant
One Shoulder: Because of the asymmetric design of this neckline, it is best you team it up with a pair of earrings. Drop or dangle earrings are excellent choice of earrings to pair with this neckline.
Radiant Bay Pick: Sparking Swirl Diamond Drop Earrings
Boat: Add length to your look, and enhance your shoulders and collarbone with a long necklace.
Radiant Bay Picks: Rope Me In Diamond Pendant
Strapless: a strapless neckline is most flexible in terms of jewellery options. Avoid covering up the skin with a big piece of chucky jewellery. Try a pair of huggie earrings to highlight the neck and collarbones. It’s a great way to make a statement without overpowering the dress.
Radiant Bay Picks: Enchanting Style Everyday Earrings
Halter: this neckline is one of the trickiest to accessories. You can either leave your neck bare, or liven your look by layering multiple strands of delicate jewellery.
Radiant Bay Picks: Flower Power Dainty Diamond Pendant, Charming Candor Diamond Pendant, and Party All Night Diamond Pendant
Cowl: Because the details of the cowls are already decorative, skip the necklace and add a pair of sparkling studs.
Radiant Bay Picks: Jocund Diamond Studs

]]>Richly hued brass is the metal of the season. Design houses like Loewe , Lanvin and Dries Van Noten have gone bold and brash on a variety of baubles.
This season it's all about the tight embrace of the chokers and cuffs, with Designers like Balmain, Lanvin, DKNY, and Givenchy bringing pieces that take chic hold; experimenting with gems, metal, transparency and beyond.
The reign of the 70's trend hasn't ended yet. This prevailing trend has worked its way into getting even more earthy and a lot more chunky. Best suited for boho babes, the trend has been reworked to be more streamlined, with oversized beads, feathers and dream catcher jewellery worked from raw stones donning the runways of Etro, Marni and Stella Jean.
Dainty estate jewels have been making the rounds this season. The borrowed-from-your-grandma look ruled the runways of Dolce and Gabbana, Prada, Altuzarra. These delicate baubles are a great way to pay homage to the ladies who lunched.
Turning larger and bolder every season, the pendant necklace has taken over the statement market. These hulking baubles have changed the way we can update our basics. The only rule to follow with this trend is "The Bigger, The Better".
More is just not enough with this trend. Gucci, Givenchy and Dolce and Gabbanna unveiled models heavily adorned with pearls, jewels and tons of metal imbued on every piece of jewellery.
The fixation on girl power was evident, at Chanel, Dior and Stella McCartney, with models donning tough-as- nails jewellery. The idea was to mirror a woman's inner strength with audacious, chunky chains, and bangles with brightly coloured leather with slogans.
After spikes and padlocks, design houses Rodarte and Armani have twisted out another punk-era style code for spring. Rows of faux piercings and graphic safety-pin earrings have taken body piercings to another level.

]]>Shape of a diamond is only the beginning of why cut is important to your diamonds. Learn more about why cut is the most important of the 4Cs.
]]>Diamonds shimmer and dance in the light. We’ve all been enraptured by the reflected specs of confetti, but all diamonds are not the same. There are key characteristics that help define the quality of a diamond: The 4Cs.
At this point, your eyes have probably glazed over thinking this is another lecture on the 4Cs of a diamond. Well, we aren’t here to give you a thesis on the qualities of a diamond, but to help you make the most of your diamond purchases.
We all know the basics of diamonds, that diamonds are colourless, IF diamonds are internally flawless and that we would really love to own a 10 carat diamond. But, when it comes to cut the first thing that would probably come to mind would be a couple of your favourite diamond shapes like, round, radiant or princess. However, a diamond’s shape is only a part of why ‘cut’ is important to your diamond.
Out of the 4Cs, cut is the most important quality. It allows the diamond to perform in the spotlight. When a diamond is mined its carat, colour and clarity are predefined by Mother Nature, but it remains a worthless rock till it is handled by craftsmen. Rough, uncut diamonds do not sparkle, and there is neither fire nor brilliance until it is cut by skilled lapidaries who meticulously grind and polish every facet to perfection.
Facets of a diamond are like a hall of mirrors; its angles, proportions and alignment direct light into the diamond, bouncing around and around, never escaping. The angles, proportions and alignment of these facets are what the cutter tries to perfect. If diamonds are cut too deep or too shallow, light will leak through it, without reflecting any sparkle.
Cut also helps create patterns within the diamond. Most people end up choosing the round brilliant because its 58 facets perform the best in light. Ideal round cut diamonds even create a Heart and Arrow pattern; a perfectly symmetrical pattern of eight arrows when view through the crown, and eight symmetrical hearts when view through the pavilion. Small diamonds have the same number of facets, so designs that have clusters of diamonds will have a whole lot of sparkle. That is why small diamonds are almost always round.
Many brands, like Radiant Bay, have high standards and only use high quality, well cut diamonds. At Radiant Bay, we make sure that all our diamonds have very good proportions to maximize sparkle and brilliance, no matter how big or small our diamonds are. Rather than taking our word for it, we recommend looking at lots of diamonds side-by-side. This will train your eyes to recognize the difference that cut makes to your diamonds. After all, who wouldn’t like to sit and stare at a bunch of shimmering diamonds?
We all want quality gemstones that last forever. Go behind the loupe and learn more about Clarity and why it is important.

]]>Drop earrings are simply studs with a pendant that dangles just below the ears. For many years, women have been enjoying this popular styled ornament.
Its inception began over five thousand years ago, in 2500 BC, when the women of Sumer were the first to be adorned by gold hoops. Later, in 500 BC, the Greeks developed the, then popular, gold discs into the drop earrings we know today.
However, these earrings never featured brilliantly cut diamonds till the Middle Ages, when diamond cutting was invented. Till then the brilliance of today’s diamonds was nonexistent. Over the course of time, jewellery making has evolved to include precious stones, allowing us to be decked in dazzling diamonds. Today, the drop earrings have become quite popular, donned not just by stars walking the red carpet, but by every woman who embraces her ever evolving style with an added hint of sparkle; bewitching everybody around her.
Inspired by the discreet simplicity of the drop itself, Radiant Bay has created a collection of drop and dangle earrings. Understated with polished glamour, our earrings are designed to give women the power to add grace and sparkle to their day- the perfect combination for the office, and just right for happy hours after work.
We've tried on all the sparkling Radiant Bay drop and dangler earrings to pick our top favourites.
