The Met Gala is an annual benefit that celebrates the annual fashion exhibit held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Chaired by Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, the affair brings in A-listers from the arts, fashions, film, music and high society.
This year’s theme, China: Through the looking glass, explores the connection and influence Chinese art and culture has on Western fashion. Dior, Alexander McQueen and Valentino are among the top couturiers whose designs will be on display at the exhibition.
As expected, celebrities and socialites alike stepped onto the red carpet this year, pulling all the stops. From exquisite and richly coloured jewellery to whimsical motifs, here are some of the glamorous gems donned by the stars.

Forever on point, SJP wore a dress from H&M embellished with a sparkling Cindy Chao brooch. She topped it off with a Philip Treacy headpiece, completing the look with custom jade bangles studded with blacked diamonds, from Fred Leighton.
All hail the Queen! The diva arrived at the gala looking fierce in a beaded gown from Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.
Looking absolutely edgy, Cara paired her black Stella McCartney jumpsuit with chunky Cartier jewels. And, who could miss the intricate cherry blossom body art?
Turning heads as she walked down the carpet, Kate looked stunning in a shimmering gold Michael Kors gown, and a glittering diamond Lorraine Schwartz headpiece.
The ever-chic businesswoman arrived wearing a Prabal Gurang creation, mimicking the iconic blue and white ceramics that China is known for. A pair of rose-shaped yellow diamond and sapphire Cindy Chao earrings completed her elegant look.
Looking stunning in sequins, Sienna chose a vibrant red Thakoon creation, accessorised with a tassled belt, and a pair of custom Jacob & Co. silk tassel, emerald and diamond earrings.
Resse dazzled at the red carpet in an elegant, bright red Jason Wu dress with tons of sparkling Tiffany & Co. jewellery.
Going for ‘sheer elegance’, she leaves very little to the imagination wearing a Versace dress with Sutra earrings, and stacks of rings by Harry Kotlar, Ivy and Jack Vartanian.
The songstress stunned at the carpet in a voluminous feather and crystal embellished Balenciaga ball gown paired with a custom hair comb, and Fred Leighton jewellery.
